A satisfying anpan bread that lets you fully taste Shinshu Ina chestnuts

“Chestnut Anpan”, a bread is made by Shinshu Sato no Kashi Kobo in Iijima Town, Kamiina District, Nagano Prefecture. Shinshu Ina Chestnuts are apparently a new brand of chestnuts born from collaborated projection between Shinshu Sato no Kashi Kobo, local farmers, and the government. The Production began around 2003, and they are certified as a “Super Special Selection Chestnuts” meeting the strict standards set by JA Kamiina.

Nagano Prefecture has been  famous for Obuse chestnuts for a long time, and it is said recently that Obuse chestnuts from the north and Shinshu Ina chestnuts from the south.  It seems a new specialty chestnut is born in Nagano Prefecture.

It’s about the size of something between a standard anpan bread and a manju, sweet bun.

Chestnut paste is generously filled in and wrapped in sweet red bean paste inside of the bread.  The balance between the finely strained chestnut paste and the chunky sweet red bean paste is just right.

The combination of chunky red bean paste and chestnut paste wrapped in the spongy bread dough creates a remarkably well-balanced and delicious flavor. This anpan bread is truly the high quality of Shinshu Ina chestnuts.
