Karintou Rusk

Karintou-flavored rusks with a nostalgic rustic sweetness

“Karintou Rusk” made by FLEURAGE in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture, is a rusk coated Okinawan brown sugar coated on the surface and baked.

“Karintou”, fried dough cookies, is generally made from flour mixed with baking soda and other ingredients, but this “karintou rusk” is made from French bread coated karintou honey on the surface.  The material of the dough is different from such fried dough cookies though, the texture seems to be quite similar.

It looks exactly like a rusk, a Western-style confectionery, but it has an aroma of traditional Japanese karintou.

The texture is crispy and light, and it is baked twice and carefully finished.

It tastes delicious and like a classic or nostalgic sweet.  The combination of karintou honey and rusk seems to be matched, however, never seen before.  It is simple deliciousness of the karintou flavor.
