Torayaki (Zunda Saryo)
Japanese notation "とら焼き (ずんだ茶寮)"
Confectionery Sanzen in Miyagi Prefecture is very famous for their “Hagi no Tsuki”, and a dorayaki-like sweet, a bean jam-filled pancake, called “Torayaki”is their another line up among a new brand Zunda Saryo series.
It looks a bit like a small dorayaki. Since a green line printed on the package, it seems to contain Zunda-an, sweet mashed green soybean paste, but it actually includes matcha cream, green tea cream.
Fluffy and tiger-patterned dough.
A bright matcha colored cream is filled inside. The texture is light and smooth, and fresh cream is mixed in.
The large azuki beans are shiny and have a great presence. The fluffy and simple sweetness goes well with the green tea cream. By the way, Zunda Saryo’s main lineup is sweets using “Zunda”, green soybean paste, so the “Torayaki” is a little irregular, but it is a very delicious dorayaki with green tea cream.
