Baumkuchen (KIHACHI)

The confectionary KIHACHI is well known as a sophisticated confectionery brand. Originally, “Restaurant KIHACHI” was opened in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo in 1987 as a restaurant ownered by Kihachi Kumagai, the chef. Later in 1990, “Patisserie Kihachi” was opened, and it is widely recognized as a high-end confectionery brand.
“Patisserie KIHACHI” simply printed on the package and it looks luxurious feel.
It looks like a standard baumkuchen, but the fine, uniform layers of dough give the impression of being delicately made.
The ingredients of flour and egg give a sense of quality and the texure is crispy. It might sound odd to describe the texture for the baumkuchen though, it seems to be very new.
It is an authentic baumkuchen, and the aroma of wheat and the refreshing sweetness are emphasized, and it is delicious without saying.
