Choco Dorayaki
Japanese notation "チョコどらやき"
“Choco Dorayaki” made by Kaishindo in Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture, who is famous for Iwayado Yokan, is a dorayaki, pancake filled with chocolate cream. This is so-called “oddball dorayaki” and is an interesting sweet blended of both styles of Japanese and Western, made by a long-established confectioner who was founded in 1927.
The product name “Choco Dorayaki” is printed in large letters on the package. It seems to be sold in a limited period.
The crust has the same texture as Kaishindo’s Ogura-an dorayaki, a fluffy pancake-like, which I had eaten before. It has a smooth surface.
The cholocate cream inside is fluffy and smooth including lots of air, like chocolate whip.
The refreshingly sweet chocolate cream goes well with the pancake-like dorayaki batter. The confectioner is famous for Japanese styled sweets and I am impressed by such Western styled confectionery of integrity.
