Iwayado-Yokan(Sesami)
Japanese notation "岩谷堂羊羹(ごま)"
Kaishindo’s “Iwayado Yokan” is known as one of Iwate’s traditional confections. The package design is very impressive. Founded in 1927, Kaishindo started business as a manufacturer of yokan in Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture, and since then, this classic yokan has been loved not only by local residents but also by people throughout Japan.
There are a variety of flavors such as black brick, honne, kogura, walnut, sesame, shio, chestnut, kurikinjiru, white brick, and matcha (powdered green tea). This time, I bought a handy bite-size “sesame flavor”. The bite size is about the same size as a 500 yen coin.
The structure of the packaging is ingenious and easy to open. It really feels like a handy type.
It can be opened like this so that only half of the body comes out.
It is black, as one would expect from sesame yokan. The flavor of sesame is very strong.
It has a rich taste with a sweetness that has depth. The yokan has a long history and is very satisfying.
