Ecorce

Baked pastry made by weaving layers of thin crepe dough

“Ecorse” made by “Hon-Takasagoya,” a long-established confectioner established in 1877 in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2020. It is the image of a confectionery that is often used as a gift. Many of you have probably eaten them before.

The name “Ecorse” is derived from the French word “Ecorse(tree bark)” . Triangular package wrapped in green silver paper. It has a nostalgic feel.

When opened, the package contains three thin, crispy textured crepe dough baked pastries.

Other tubular and rectangular shapes are also available in the same series, but the triangular ones are particularly unique.

Layers of thin, crepe-like dough are woven together.

The crispy texture is delicious. I am simply amazed that a confectionery that started out making traditional Japanese sweets has created such excellent Western-style confections,No wonder it has been a long seller for more than 50 years.
