Mandel Ziegel
Japanese notation "マンデルチーゲル"
“Mandel Ziegel” is made by “Hon-takasagoya” a long-established bakery established in 1877 in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. The German name “Mandel” means almond and “Ziegel” means tile.
The box has “MANDEL ZIEGEL” painted in large letters. The typeface of the letters gives the design a mysterious view of the world.
The packaging, designed with a large Mandel Ziegel’s “М”, also has a unique world view.
It is the size of the palm of your hand, thin and very light. The amount of almonds is amazing.
I quickly tried it and found the dough to be crispy and the almonds to be crunchy and deliciously savory. The ingredients seem to be almonds, sugar, eggs, flour, and vanilla.
The simple ingredients give it a strong almond flavor. I also liked the low sweetness. The almonds are the star of this thin cookie.
