I-YOKAN Shika Shinai
Japanese notation "いーよかんしかしない"
The interestingly named madeleines “Iyokan shikashite” made by Ichiroku Honpo, famous for its “Ichiroku Tart“, are madeleines with plenty of Iyokan, a specialty of Ehime.
The package design is interesting, with the words “Iyokan” and “I have a good feeling” written in alphabetical characters, and the product name “I have only a good feeling” written in a pun-like manner.
The product name jokes that the meaning of the name is ‘I only have a good feeling.
The overall color of the madeleines is orange. You can feel the moist texture.
The inside is filled with finely chopped Iyokan citrus pulp, and the citrus aroma spreads in a whirlwind. The cake inside is also a bright orange hue.
It is similar to the flavor of marmalade madeleines that you often see in cakes. However, since Iyokan citrus is used in abundance, the sweet and sour flavor of the cake is stronger than the bitterness of marmalade. Still, I still find it strange that citrus fruits go so well with sponge cakes like madeleines.
