Oyatsu Castella

Deliciously cute classic snack sponge cake

“Bunmeido’s “Oyatsu Castella” is a famous snack, but surprisingly, this packaged product has only recently appeared on the market, starting in February 2015. I remember seeing this package at a department store a few years ago and immediately bought it because of its cuteness.

Needless to say, Bunmeido’s Castella cakes is very famous, but did you know that this equally famous character is actually based on the motif of a bear? I thought it was a cat.

I can’t believe that it was a bear, not a cat, that was dancing nimbly, hand in hand, in this too-famous commercial.

Aside from that, “Oyatsu Castella” contains two good-sized pieces of sponge cake. The package is wrapped tightly in a special paper box like this.

 “Oyatsu Castella” are baked with orange honey without a layer of rough rice.

The taste is always stable. It is cute, but it is definitely the taste of a long-established confectionary.
