Jiwaman(Beni-Haruka)

じわまん(紅はるか)

I didn't know that Goroshima was the best dune land for growing sweet potatoes.

This is one of the “Kanazawa Miruku Manju “Jiwa-Man” series” sold by a confectionery shop “Furan-Doru” in Ishikawa Prefecture. It is a bun made from Goro-jima sweet potatoes.

The other day I bought and ate “Jiwaman (Noto-Dainagon)“, which was very delicious, so this time I bought “Jiwaman (Beni-haruka)”.

The manju skin is reddish brown, reminiscent of sweet potato skin. The Goroshima area in Kanazawa City is said to be a sand dune area that is ideal for growing sweet potatoes, which was a bit surprising. I didn’t have an image of a place on the Sea of Japan side that is famous for sweet potatoes.

The sweet bean paste inside is a sweet potato bean paste made with plenty of “Beni-Haruka” sweet potatoes. The sweetness and sticky texture, which is a characteristic of this variety, gave it a very firm sweetness.

It is exactly like a sweet potato manju, or “Beniharuka Sweet Potato Manju” if you will. The package design of this Jiwaman series is also very cute. I think it is a confectionery that would be appreciated as a souvenir.
