Kanou-zan Sumibi Teyaki Senbei
Japanese notation "鹿野山炭火手焼せんべい"
“Kanou-zan Sumibi Teyaki Senbei” made by Ayabe Shoten in Futtsu City, Chiba Prefecture, are handmade rice crackers carefully grilled one by one over a charcoal fire. The texture of the handmade rice crackers can be felt from their rough appearance and slightly charred charcoal grill marks.
The rice crackers are made with a full range of extremely organic local ingredients, using a blend of local Koshihikari rice grown in Futtsu and no additives of any kind. These rice crackers have a simple but robust flavor.
This beautiful golden brown color is the result of carefully grilling the fish while repeatedly dipping it in a sauce made from local natural soy sauce.
The broken cross section also reveals that it was baked very carefully.
It has a rustic flavor, but the ingredients are present and delicious. The lumpy surface is fragrant with the flavor of glutinous rice and burnt soy sauce. This is a precious item that allows you to taste the traditional rice crackers of the past.
