Kaiko-Harbor Matcha Kuromitsu

Specialty matcha flavor created to commemorate the 165th anniversary of the opening of the port.

”Kaiko-Harbor Matcha Kuromitsu” released by Ariake, who is famous for their Yokohama Harbor, is a new lineup created to commemorate the 165th anniversary of the opening of the Port of Yokohama on June 2, 2024.

At the time of the opening of the port in 1859, Japan’s main exports were tea and raw silk, hence the matcha-flavored is applied on this. The matcha used for the confectionery is the original “Manjo no Ao” matcha developed in collaboration with Mr. Yasuyuki Suda, a tea master with a 10-dan (grade) certification.

Commodore Perry on the Black Ship and a Japanese delegate are printed on the package.

The appearance of the dough looks a bit darker,  but it looks the same as the general Yokohama Harbor other than the color.

Looking inside, it is a vivid matcha color. Sweetened chestnuts and molasses are filled into the matcha bean paste.

It tastes delicious and the combination of authentic matcha flavor and molasses is so good. The crunchiness of the crumbled chestnuts gives unique and originality to the sereis of Yokohama Harbor.  It enables us to enjoy the abundant matcha flavor.
