Kurofune Harbor

I love Perry's expression on the package.

“Yokohama Harbor” is very famous as a souvenir candy in Yokohama, but did you know about this “Kurofune Harbor”? It is the chocolate-flavored version with a unique package designed Perry’s black ships.

This is a new product released on June 1, 2021 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Harbor’s revival. I did not know that  Ariake Seika went bankrupt in 1999, and Yokohama Harbor was no longer available.  Fortunately it was revived in 2001 thanks to the voluntary efforts by the Harbor Revival Executive Committee.

This chocolatey harbor is made to celebrate the 20th anniversary for the revival memory. Lots of walnuts are used for the harbor. The motif of the black ships on the package is very unique and the Perry drawn by Ryohei Yanagihara is also cute.

The entire dough is finished with a chocolatey flavor.

The savory walnuts and the rich chocolatey flavor taste delicious. It tastes so perfect and  I think I might prefer this to the Yokohama Harbor.
