Fukami-guri-no-Gateau

Gâteau chocolate and chestnut flavors, satisfying cupcakes

Ishimura Mansakodo, a long-established confectioner established in 1905, produces the famous Fukuoka souvenir “Tsurunoko” but it also offers a full lineup of Western-style confections as well as Japanese-style confections.

The “Fukami-guri no Gateau” I bought this time is a chocolate sponge cake similar to gateau chocolat, filled with chestnut bean paste.

The chocolate cake in the cups is a rich color that conveys the richness of the cake.

Chestnut red bean paste is roundly placed inside.

The dough is made with rum, which gives it a flavorful and mature taste. The chestnuts are not berries but a paste-like bean paste, which has a good texture on the tongue and goes well with the chocolate batter.
