Banpeiyu-Monaka

Monaka made with "Banpeiyu" one of the largest citrus fruits

The “Banpeiyu Monaka” made by the “Hikawa Town Development Promotion Association” in Hikawa-cho, Yatsushiro-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture, is a monaka made from Banpeiyu, which is said to be one of the largest citrus fruits in the world.

The Banpeiyu, which was first cultivated in the Yatsushiro region of Kumamoto Prefecture and became a specialty, has a thick skin, and it is not uncommon for the skin to grow to 25 cm in diameter.

It looks like there is white bean paste inside.

It has a fresh citrus aroma when you try it. The Banpeiyu fruit is firmly contained in the bean paste.

The dynamic citrus “Banpeiyu“, which can grow up to 25 cm in diameter, goes well with the white bean paste, giving the monaka a refreshing summer-like taste.
