Apple pie (Kudō-Pan)
Japanese notation "りんごのパイ(工藤パン)"
“Apple Pie” is made by Kudō-Pan in Aomori Prefecture. Kudō-Pan is famous for its “English Toast” but it also sells many other items in its lineup, and is a bread maker with a huge following in the Tohoku region.
The package is so full of the grim expression of the floats of the Neputa Festival that it is hard to tell at a glance that it is an “apple pie”. LoL
Two perfectly round pies were served. The pie crust is firm to the touch and has a biscuit-like texture.
The inside is filled with apple jam.
Cross section from the side. The pie is baked in a round shape, creating a hole-like cavity inside.
The package described it as custard-flavored cream, and when I tried it, I found that it did indeed have a mild cream flavor, like a mixture of apples and custard. The sweet and sour taste of the apple and the mildness of the custard go well with the biscuit-like texture of the dough.
