English toast

Aomori soul food with a crunchy texture and classic taste

“Kudo Bread’s” made “English Toast” is a local bread that is well known not only in Aomori Prefecture but also throughout Japan. Since it was first sold around 1966, it has been loved for a long time and is now famous as Aomori’s soul food.

Incidentally, although the product is called “toast,” it is made from unbaked bread. It is said that the name was chosen by the founder, Hanemon Kudo, at his own discretion.

It looks like an ordinary piece of bread, but the top and bottom two slices of the sandwich are quite thin. This thickness is also carefully designed.

Checking the contents of the sandwich, we see cream mixed with margarine and sugar. You can see a large amount of large grains of sugar that create the “crunchy” texture that is the identity of English toast.

Despite its simple composition, it is undoubtedly delicious. It is easy to see why it has been loved for so long. Kudo Bakery’s mischievous and unique sweet bread, “English Toast,” is a must-have Aomori souvenir.
