Kimamori
Persimmon Yokan and uniquely textured rice crackers
Japanese notation "まろんな"
I bought “Maronna” made by “Minatoya”, a Japanese confectionery in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. Many of the sweets made by Minatoya use chestnuts.
When I opened the wrapping, what came out was a sponge cake in the shape of a chestnut, which seemed to be elaborately made in three dimensions. It is a sponge cake with a round shape and high enough to be almost a sphere.
When cut in half, a whole chestnut is contained.
The cake batter itself is full of originality, with red bean paste and brown sugar kneaded into the dough, which is then soaked in rum. The chestnuts inside were simply delicious.
