Shirasu Chips

Japanese notation "しらすチップス"
Yamasei Suisan, a manufacturer of processed marine products at the Omaezaki Fishing Port in Shizuoka Prefecture, sells “Shirasu Chips” which are chips made from fresh raw shirasu(whitebait) caught at the Omaezaki Fishing Port.
I was intrigued by the fact that it was in the section where potato chips and other products are sold, so I bought it.
I was surprised when I opened the package.” The “shirasu” itself is pressed into chips. I had never thought that the material of the chips itself was shirasu.
The texture is more like dried fish than crispy, and of course the taste is 100% shirasu itself. These chips are full of nutrients and are a good source of calcium. Shirasu is famous in Omaezaki for its “Raw shirasu rice bowl,” but because it is a raw product, it would have been difficult to give as a souvenir.
