Hiroshima Lemon Rusk
Japanese notation "広島レモンラスク"
“Hiroshima Lemon Rusk” made by “Fūkisha” which has a store in Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is a unique concept that mixes a lemon, a specialty of Hiroshima, into the rusk.
Fūkisha also makes a variety of other sweets using Hiroshima lemons, such as lemon jelly and madeleines, but the fact that they also use Hiroshima lemons in their rusks shows their love for Hiroshima.
When opened, what emerged was a sugar-filled rusk with a soft lemon aroma.
The reason why the Seto Inland Sea area, including Hiroshima, is so popular for lemon cultivation is that the climate of the Seto Inland Sea, which is warm and dry with many sunny days and little rainfall, is just right for lemon cultivation.
The Mediterranean coast of Europe is also a good place for growing lemons, and the Seto Inland Sea area of Japan is similarly rich in lemon cultivation. That is why “Hiroshima Lemon Rusk” was crispy and rich in lemon flavor.
