Bandai-Daiko
Japanese notation "万代太鼓(レクチェクリーム)"
“Bandai-Daiko” is a mini-sized roll cake confection made by the long-established confectionery shop “Osaka-ya” in Niigata Prefecture. This time I bought a version with lots of pear cream called “Le Lectier”.
“Le Lectier” is said to be a variety with a rich sweet taste and stronger aroma than “La France”. It takes a lot of delicacy and time to cultivate, and even in France, the birthplace of the variety, it is said that not many pears are produced. I did not know that “Le Lectier” is actively cultivated in Niigata Prefecture in Japan.
A generous amount of cream in the middle of the cylindrical roll cake. It has a slight aroma of pear.
This cake has layers of moist yet mellow flavors.
The aroma of pears is more mellow than I had imagined and goes very well with the cake batter. Perhaps it is the unique flavor of “Le Lectier”, but it also goes very well with the whipped cream. “Le Lectier” is a pear that is actively cultivated in Niigata Prefecture, and I learned its existence well.
