Kurogane Kata-pan
Japanese notation "くろがね堅パン"
”Kurogane Kata-pan” made by Kitakyushu-based Spina Corporation is really a very hard loaf of bread. It seems to have its roots in the Taisho Period (1912-1926), when the Yahata Iron Works was still under government management, when it was made as a nutritional supplement for employees, and it was also useful because it could be preserved.
This “hard bread” is delicious anyway, although it is unbelievably hard.
The package is marked with a warning, “Be careful, it’s very hard”
Unfortunately, when I took it out of the package, it was cracked. I think it broke during transportation, but looking at it, I thought, “Oh, I wonder if I can eat it as crispy as I thought,” and stopped when I put the broken piece in my mouth, thinking, “I was careless. By mistake, you should not bite into it with the vigor with which you eat cookies or cookies.
Also, I don’t think you should try to break it by hand by mistake. It is hard enough to hurt your wrist.
Now, I have written only about the hardness of the bread, but this “hard bread” is really delicious. I can understand why it has been loved for a long time because it has a very simple and rustic taste. You can only eat it slowly because of its hardness, but it is a universal taste that you will never get tired of. You can enjoy it slowly over time.
