Ayu(Furyūdō)

Japanese notation "あゆ(風流堂)"
Matsue in Shimane Prefecture is famous as one of the three major confectionery areas in Japan, and we would like to have “Ayu” made by “Furyūdō” a long-established confectionery shop in Matsue.
“Ayu” is also seen in many places as a major confectionery, but it has a good hand-baked and handmade feel that is unique to Furyūdō.
When break it in half, it is filled with beautiful Gyuhi and already looks delicious. I like the light yet chewy texture of the sponge cake dough and gyuhi so much that I sometimes buy it at convenience stores.
Delicious. It is generally recognized as a typical summer pastry, but I like it in all seasons. The moderate sweetness of the gyuhi enhances the overall taste.
