Iburi-Gakko Cheese「Ke」

Japanese notation "いぶりがっこちーず「け」"
Kawaguchiya, a confectionery shop in Akita Prefecture, produces a series of “Hiragana Ichimonji Series” of confections that match the local dialect, Last time I introduced “Sesame soy sauce flavored manju ‘Ku'”, and this time I bought “Iburi-Gakko & cheese flavored manju ‘Ke'”.
”Iburi-gakko” is a traditional pickle of Akita Prefecture, made from daikon radish that is dried while being smoked.
It looks like a standard manju.
When I cracked it open and looked inside, I found that there is indeed chopped ”Iburi-gakko” in the cream cheese-based red bean paste. It has a rather distinctive aroma.
What a complex harmony. It is a flavor I have never tasted before. It may not be to everyone’s taste, but it is a must-try dessert for those who love ”Iburi-gakko”.
