Saka-no-Ueno-Kumo
Japanese notation "坂の上の雲"
Ichiroku Honpo, famous for its “Ichiroku Tart” makes “Saka no Ue no Kumo” (Clouds over the Hill), a confectionery named after the novel by Ryotaro Shiba. It is a manjuu with a cute shape that resembles the shape of a cloud.
The beautifully designed packaging reads “Iyokan Milk Cracker”
「Iyokan (species of citrus fruit, Citrus iyo)」which anticipates a citrus bean paste.
卵のようなシェイプのおまんじゅう。このシェイプが”雲”の形をイメージしているのだとか、なんとなく愛らしい形です。
The brightly colored yolk bean paste is served with a slight citrus aroma.
It seems to be a simple yellow bean paste, but there is also a citrus flavor in the milk-flavored bean paste. It is a very refreshing taste for a manjuu. It is no wonder that this manjuu reminds one of clouds on the hill.
