Oshidori Milk Cake (Cherry)
Japanese notation "おしどりミルクケーキ さくらんぼ"
“Oshidori Milk Cake” a long-time favorite produced by Nihon Seinyu Milk Co. in Yamagata Prefecture, is a milk cake made of sweetened condensed milk with calcium added to give it a crispy, chewy texture.
Based on the milk flavor, a variety of flavors are available. This time, I bought the Yamagata specialty, cherry flavor. It is a unique Yamagata confectionary made of milk cake blended with “Sato Nishiki” (Sato Nishiki is a Japanese sweet made from Sato Nishiki cherries).
The snacks, which are formed into a board shape and have a crispy texture, are rich in protein and calcium, and are recommended as “milk to eat” according to the manufacturer’s comments. It is a great way to consume important nutrients in a snack.
The taste is a milk-flavored sugar candy with a cherry flavor and a simple sweetness. Above all, the texture is crispy, and the hardened sugar candy has a nostalgic taste. It reminded me of the sweets we used to have at home when I was little.
