Ame-senbei
Japanese notation "あめせんべい"
I bought “Ame Senbei” made by Hachitoya in Mutsu City, Aomori Prefecture. This “Ame-Senbei”, which is also known as the soul food of the Tsugaru region, is a rather surprising concept of confectionery.
It looks just like Nanbu Senbei, but it is an acrobatically designed snack with water candy trapped inside a crispy rice cracker.
The outside is baked in a square shape, looking like a traditional “Nanbu senbei” (rice cracker). However, the inside is filled with water syrup.
It is an amazing amount of syrup.
What a strange texture. It is like biting and eating. The rice cracker has a crispy texture and a simple taste of flour and sesame. The syrup is intertwined with the rice cracker. It is hard to describe, but it is delicious.
