Hitokuchi-Shimizu Yokan
Japanese notation "一口清水羊羹"
Kuroda Sennendo has a store inside the precincts of Zuikozan Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Kiyomizu Yokan is a type of yokan with a long history dating back to the end of the Kamakura period (1185-1333). This time, we would like to introduce a bite-sized piece of Kiyomizu Yokan, which looks like this.
This box containing 30 grams of Shimizu Yokan, this size compared to a 500 yen coin. The ink painting-like drawing on the package also evokes a deep historical atmosphere.
It is a very firm yokan.
It may look dense from the outside, but you can see the light shining through in some places.
The rich flavor of the yokan itself was exquisite. The flavor of azuki beans was well balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. This is the kind of yokan that has been cultivated over a long history. Moreover, the price of this bite-sized yokan is very reasonable.
