Kenpi
Japanese notation "ケンピ"
Kempi, a traditional Tosa baked sweet, has a very long history and is said to have been invented by Kazutoyo Yamauchi in 1600, when he moved from Kakegawa in present-day Shizuoka Prefecture to Kochi.
It is a simple pastry made of baked flour and sugar, and written in KANJI characters『堅干』.
These characters mean “hard” and “dry”.
The texture is very light and you can feel the hardness, but the size is cute and you can eat it as if it were a snack.
Rigid! LOL!
It is 10 times harder than I imagined. I had heard that it was a hard candy, but I did not expect it to be this hard! I put it in my mouth and tried to chew it normally, but my jaw hit my mouth! It was hard, but I was convinced that it is a traditional candy with a simple taste.
