Matsue Kara-Koro Bashi
Japanese notation "松江からころ橋"
I bought a “Matsue Karakorobashi,” named after an anecdote about Koizumi Yakumo, who once lived in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, and is said to have happily crossed the Matsue Ohashi Bridge in geta sandals. Matsue is famous for its Japanese sweets, but it is also known as a town where many cultural figures lived, and is famous for its elegant townscape.
Matsue Karakorobashi Bridge, another name for Matsue Ohashi Bridge, is a charming bridge close to Matsue Castle.
It is laminated with a thin, soft rice cracker sprinkled with sesame seeds. I thought it was a rice cracker because of the thinness of the package, but it seems to be a little different; the dough has a moist, cookie-like texture.
Looking between the thinly laminated cookie dough, you will find a kind of gyuhi.
I was surprised to find such a delicate Anko mochi sandwiched inside. This is delicious! It’s like a little bit of elegant Anko mochi (sweet bean paste cake) in between the rustic tasting sesame cookie-like rice crackers. It is a very detailed design. It had a harmonious taste and texture.
