Setouchi Lemon Cream Momiji
Japanese notation "瀬戸内レモンクリームもみじ"
Yamadaya, founded in 1932 in Miyajima, a small island in the Hiroshima Bay in wetern Japan, is a long-established confectionery store famous for its momiji manjuu production. Over their long history, the shop has produced many variations of momiji manju.
“Setouchi Lemon Cream Momiji” is a momiji manju, a sweet bun filled with cream made from lemons grown in the Setouchi area. Incidentally, Setouchi lemons are often grown on trees until they are nearly fully ripe, so the lemon tends to increase their sugar contents.
It looks like an ordinary momiji manju,
It includes lemon cream having a custard cream-like texture.
The custard cream is delicious with a fresh lemon flavor and acidity added. It is a little surprising to know how well the cream is well matched with the momiji manju dough.
