Suzu Castella

The "bell sponge cake" bell shape is faithfully reproduced for the first time.

“Suzu Castella” is one of confectionary among a brand, Meigetsu Karyo, made by Ogura Sanso Corporation who locates in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto Prefecture. Ogura Sanso is famous for their rice crackers and the brand seems to have a wide lineup sweets both Japanese and Western.

They are packed in a tray in the package, It is rare to sell bell sponge cake in this kind of package.

Usually, type of “Suzu Castella” is a spherical shape with a different baking color on the top and the bottom and sugar sprinkled around it, but this Suzu Castella has the texture like a doll-shaped pancake.

I think this is the most faithful reproduction of the bell shape among all the bell sponge cakes I have seen so far.

The taste is moist and fluffy, and a lot of eggs are used.  It is a bite-size, cute little spong cake ball.
