Senryo (Taneya)

Cute sweets wrapped with a carp banner package

Taneya is a tradinonal long-established confectionery founded in 1872 in Omihachiman City, Shiga Prefecture and is now well know nationwide.  Recently their baumkuchen among a brand “Club Harrier” become famous.  “Senryo” is one of their confectionary for seaonal lineup.

The package looks like a carp streamer, which is very cute. It seems to be a seasonal product for spring.  The package desgin is jut right for “Children’s Day” in May.

The dough baked in brown and it wrapps sweeet red bean baste.  The appearance also lovely.

It is like a baked pastry and is right size for two or thress bites.  It is like a mini-sized anpan, buns.

The savory dough has a texture like a between baked pastry and bread, and the sweet bean paste goes well with it. It is a perfect snack to give to children on Children’s Day.
