Mikasano

Traditional signature product made by a very long-established shop in Oita Prefecture

Tajimaya Roho was founded in 1804 in Taketa City, Oita Prefecture and is allegedly said that they are the oldest Japanese confectionery there.

This “Mikasano” is their representative confectionary and has a long history of being presented to the feudal lord since the Edo period.

The thinly baked dough wraps koshi-an, sweet bean paste and folded.   The shap looks like young sweetfish, and the dough has a more rustic texture.

The light colored bean paste wrapped in the thin dough, conveys a light and refreshing appearance.

The sweet bean paste is rich yet refined. It is a simple yet high quality Japanese confectionery with a sense of stability and it tastes a quintessential traditional Japanese confectionary.
