“Honey Lemon” made by Maruya Honten, whose chain stores locate in Niigata Prefecture, is a lemon cake. Maruya Honten is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop founded in 1878.

The yellow package contains what is called “lemon cake”.

It is a classic sponge cake covered with lemon chocolate cream.

It is a fluffy sponge cake inside, and the lemon chocolate wrapping the spong cake is much thicker layers than others I have eaten so far.

The sponge cake is so delicate almost crumbled into a hollowness, and lemon peel filled in the cake. Enjoyable with the lemon aroma and is satisfyingly thick and voluminous of lemon chocolate.
