Fune Monaka
Japanese notation "船もなか"
Fune Monaka made by Kohroan, whose main store is located in Motomachi, Naka-ku, Yokohama, is a bean-jam-filled water containing gyuhi, a kind of rice cake made from glutinous rice. The shape takes motif of ship passing through the port of Yokohama.
An illustration of a large ship docked at the Port of Yokoha is printed on the package. I am not sure the reason why a flying koala by parachute is also drawn in the upper right corner, but it is cute.
It contains 2 monakas shaping ship in the package. They seem to be based on the motif of a ship, and they are deformed into a round shape, almost spherical.
There is a spherical pasted bean jam inside.
It is a bite-sized monaka, but it is filled with a firm volume of gyuhi, giving it a satisfying feeling. The pasted sweet bean jam is not too sweet and has a refined taste. It was a monaka with the playful spirit of a long-established Japanese confectionery.
