Yaki-Kuri-kinton
Japanese notation "焼き栗きんとん"
Yaki-kuri-kinton, mashed sweet potatoes with sweetened roasted chestnuts, is made by Matsutanien who founded in 1972 in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. As the name implies, it is a confection baking kuri-kinton.
Gifu Prefecture is famous for a crop chestnuts, and Matsutanien’s Yaki-Kuri-kinton has a particularly unique concept. Although such Kuri-Kinton’s shelf life is generally about 2~3 days, this Yaki-Kuri-kinton has longer shelf life up to 60 days because of adopting baking process.
It uses almost the same ingredients as common Kuri-kinton.
You will be surprised at well grilled on the surface.
It is less moist and is quite drier in texture compared to common Kuri-kinton.
The texture is less moist than fresh Kuri-kinton which lasts only 2~3 days, but the baking process makes it more savory and brings out the flavor of the chestnuts. It tastes delicious and we can enjoy of the simple sweetness of chestnuts.
