Yokohama-no-fune

"Kinako Dacquoise" is a blend of Japanese and Western styles.

Mameya Kanazawa Bankyu is a confectioner who locates in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and is famous for  “Gold sponge cake” which is pasted with gold leaf. This is a limited sweet supplied at only SOGO department in Yokohama city, Kanagawa Pref.

Drawn a ship docked at the Port of Yokohama on the package.

It looks like a dacquoise, a traditional French pastry in the shape of a boat.

A fluffy butter cream mixed with Kinako (soybean flour) is sandwiched between the dacquoise , and the sweet concept is a blend of Japanese and Western flavors, which is called  “Kinako dacquoise”.

The balance of both the dacquoise dough and the flavor of  soybean flour surprisingly goes well.   It has a Western taste, but the soybean flour flavor adds  a Japanese flavor on it. Since it is only available to buy it at Sogo’s Yokohama store, it is a perfect souvenir from Yokohama.
