Hitotsubu-kuri karinto manju
Japanese notation "一粒栗かりんとうまんじゅう"
“Hitotsubu-kuri karinto manju” is a sweet bun flavored fried dough snak, containing a whole piece of chestnut and sweet pasted red bean jam. This is made by Kamejirushi, who was established in 1852 in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture and it is a luxurious karinto manju.
Karinto manju is generally inexpensive, easy-to-eat snack, but this karinto manju seems to be made with a lot of cares and attentions in detail, and their ingredients seem to be very carefully chosen.
The koshian (bean paste) is made from red beans harvested in Tokachi, Hokkaido, and the brown sugar used for the manju skin is from Tarama Island, Okinawa.
It is filled with a large chestnut, and the karinto manju is fried in special rice oil. They stick to its fine ingredients and keeping high quality.
The balance between the refreshing sweetness of the pasted red beans and the bun skin applied brown sugar is so good. Because of using rice oil, it does not bother to taste sensitive savor of each delicate ingredient. It was a very satisfying and generous karinto manju.
