Baumkuchen reminiscent of Egg omelette

“Kimi-no-mama” made by the Yataro Group in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is a baumkuchen that uses plenty of eggs, bringing the flavor of eggs to the forefront.

“Kimi” in the confectionery name implies egg yalk in Japanese.  The product’s tagline reads, “My heart is my mother’s omelet.” It is rare to find such baumkuchen that really emphasizes eggs at the forefront.

The package is very functionally designed. It includes a fork. Each package 4 pcs of baumkuchen and it is quite volumy.

It looks like an ordinary baumkuchen, and it is quite moist and has a kind of shiny surface.

The egg flavor is amazing. The dough is moist but easily break by the layer.  It has a simple sweetness, but it is delicious with a strong egg flavor. The secret ingredient is “mirin” (sweet cooking rice wine), which makes the baumkuchen taste like a egg omelette.
