Yuzu-shigure
Japanese notation "柚子しぐれ"
“Yuzu-shigure” is a traditional Japanese confectionery made by “San-eidō”, which has been making traditional Japanese confectionery in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture since 1929.
It comes in a cute package, but it has a very traditional texture, like a so-called “Nerikiri (kneaded rice cake)”.
The rounded shape and elegant yuzu hue are impressive.
When split in half, the inside is a young grass-colored red bean paste with a yuzu seed in the middle. The delicate gradation of colors is beautiful.
It has a fluffy texture and elegant sweetness with a hint of yuzu. It was a great balance. I felt that this is indeed a Japanese confectionery made by a long-established confectionery shop in Matsue, one of the three major confectionery areas in Japan.
