Shape and color are like autumn maple leaves

“Kinoka-momiji” made by “Zuika” in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, is a rice cracker shaped like a “maple leaf” in both color and shape.

Zuika is a specialty store of “Arare (rice crackers), Okaki (rice crackers)” based in Niigata Prefecture, famous for its rice production, and you may know them as they have a store in Ginza, Tokyo. The rice crackers made with rice from Niigata, a rice-producing region, have an established reputation and are very popular.

It is filled with maple-shaped rice crackers and roasted soybeans. The color of the baked rice crackers is just like the color of maple leaves when they turn red.

They are simply flavored with soy sauce, but have a simple taste that lets you feel the deliciousness of the rice. Zuika’s lineup of okaki is very extensive, so it is fun to compare different kinds of okaki.
