Hiyashi Abekawa-mochi

Abekawa-mochi arranged for summer!

The concept of “Hiyashi Abekawa-mochi” made by Mihomi Co. in Shizuoka Prefecture seems to be to eat “Abekawa-mochi” cold in the summer.

The package design has a catchy “Ukiyo-e” with a modern twist, just like summer. The package also said it was recommended to be eaten chilled in the refrigerator.

It is said that “Abekawa-mochi” originated in Shizuoka City, where Tokugawa Ieyasu was once served this mochi when he stopped by the area and liked it so much that he named it “Abekawa-mochi” after the name of the place.

The soft rice cake, which has a soft and smooth texture like kuzumochi, is filled with “Kuromitsu” (black honey) and goes well with the texture of the cold kuzumochi. The concept of having Abekawa-mochi cooled down for the summer was a good idea.
