Ann-iri-kusamochi
Japanese notation "餡入り草餅 (谷中福丸)"
Yanaka-Fukumaru Manju’s “Ann-iri-kusamochi” is located in Yanaka, Taito-ku, Tokyo. This Japanese confectionery shop is amazing for its authentic taste and high cost performance.
As usual, the cost performance is astounding, with four pieces of “Kusamochi (mugwort rice cakes)” filled with Ogura-an (sweet bean paste) priced at 100 yen including tax.
The texture of fresh rice cake kneaded with plenty of mugwort, shiny and beautiful.
Inside there is a light Ogura-an (sweet bean paste) filling, and the mochi has a chewy yet crispy feel to it. It is surely due to the abundant mugwort kneaded into the rice, which gives the mochi a fresh aroma and the Ogura-an exquisite taste.
Still, I feel like I can sense Yanaka-Fukumaru Manju’s philosophy that such authentic Japanese sweets can be enjoyed at such a reasonable price.
