Tarte-tatin Milk Manju

Manju with sweetened condensed milk, moist and delicious.

“Tarte-tatin” in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, makes many handmade sweets full of local delicacies. The name “Tarte-tatin” (French pastry using apples) was chosen because Iwate Prefecture is a major apple-producing region. The store is famous for its sweets using apples from Iwate Prefecture, but this time we will have the “Milk Manju”.

The label says “Iwate condensed milk,” and it appears that plenty of condensed milk is used.

These manju are well browned.

Smooth and gently sweet. Both the dough and the bean paste inside are moist and have the milkiness of condensed milk.

In addition to condensed milk, butter and eggs produced in Iwate are said to be used, and the quality of the ingredients unique to Iwate can be felt in the manju.
