Shell Leines Ise-cha
Japanese notation "シェル・レーヌ 伊勢茶"
“Blanca” a sweets manufacturer in Ise City, Mie Prefecture, has created “Shell Leines Ise-cha”, an Isecha-flavored version of “Shell Leines“. Ise-cha is a generic name for tea leaves produced in Mie Prefecture, and is said to be characterized by its rich taste and aroma with little astringency.
In Ise City, where Blanca’s store is located, various food manufacturers are also producing food using Ise tea and promoting its excellent taste.
Mie Prefecture seems to be a suitable environment for tea production not only in terms of topography, but also in terms of average annual temperature and precipitation, and is said to rank third in Japan in terms of cultivation area and production following Shizuoka and Kagoshima prefectures.
The shape is that of a rounded seashell, just like the Shell Leines. It has a slightly greenish hue, with tea leaves mixed into the plain-flavored Shell Leines.
It is very thick but evenly baked throughout and has a moist texture. The dough is richly mixed with Ise tea leaves.
As I said, they are delicious. If you have ever had Blanca’s Shell Leines, you will know the high quality of these madeleines, and the addition of the flavor of Ise tea gives them a refreshing and elegant aroma. We feel that they will become popular as a new standard for Ise souvenirs.
