Kamado-Senbei
Japanese notation "かまどせんべい"
“Meibutsu-Kamado” in Sakaide City, Kagawa Prefecture, has “Kamado-Senbei” as its signature product. The salt manufacturing industry has long flourished in Kagawa Prefecture, and this rice cracker symbolizes the “Kamado” a place where salt is made.
These square biscuit-like crackers are said to be carefully baked one by one with plenty of fresh egg yolk. The size is about 5 cm square and light to the touch.
The slightly curved shape makes it look like a “Kawara(japanese roof tiles)” When you try it, it is thick and very hard, so small children and the elderly should be careful. It tastes like a Western-style hard rice cracker. It is said to be made of simple ingredients such as sugar, eggs, flour, and honey, so it has a rustic and nostalgic taste.
It was satisfying and filling. It would go well with tea, milk, etc.
