Purin-Dora
Japanese notation "ぷりんどら"
I got “Purin(Pudding)-Dora” from “Kikuya,” a confectioner in Yufu City, Oita Prefecture, which is famous as a hot spring resort. I had been curious about this confectionery for a long time.
This dorayaki is a fairly well-established sweet with pudding inside, and is quite famous in Oita.
The dorayaki requires refrigeration because of the pudding inside. When I opened the package, I found that the dorayaki crust was very beautiful and the texture was quite delicate, just like the “fresh dorayaki” that we often see these days. The dorayaki is usually kept for 3 days or frozen for about a month.
When peeked at from the side, it looks like a really flat pudding, as it is, and as a whole pudding.
When cut in half, the pudding is really sandwiched directly into the dorayaki crust. The top of the pudding is covered with caramel sauce, and you can also see what looks like custard cream sandwiched between the crust and the pudding.
The handmade pudding and moist, cake-like dorayaki crust. It is an excellent souvenir from Oita that is sure to be a hit.
