Setouchi Lemon Cake
Japanese notation "瀬戸内レモンケーキ（ちきりや）"
I bought “Setouchi Lemon Cake” made by “La Famille”, a French confectionery brand of Chikiriya Corporation in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. Lemon cake is a standard confectionery in the Setouchi area, but each confectioner has its own characteristics, so it is fun to compare them.
A lemon-shaped cake covered with lemon chocolate is a standard style, but “La Famille’s” lemon cake is darker in color and taller.
When I cut it in half and looked at the cross section, the cake batter still looks dark in color, and also feels quite moist.
A fair amount of lemon peel is mixed into the dough, which accents the moderate bitterness and texture, and goes well with the slightly sweet and sour lemon chocolate and lemon cake.
